Must be a returning student or have passed the A0 placement test.
Level A1 is divided into three progressive courses: A1-1, A1-2, and A1-3. These courses are designed to be taken in order, as each one builds on the grammar and communication skills developed in the previous level. The grammar increases in complexity from course to course, and vocabulary themes vary significantly across the three.
While we understand that some students may need flexibility, we strongly recommend completing A1-1 before enrolling in A1-2 or A1-3, as it establishes essential foundations such as present tense verb conjugation, articles, and basic sentence structure.
To ensure full preparation for Level A2, students should complete all three A1 courses, as each covers distinct vocabulary and communication contexts that are not repeated later.
Level A1-1 Objectives:
Communication:
Greet others and introduce oneself
Ask for and give personal information (name, age, nationality, profession, etc.)
Talk about family members
Describe people and everyday objects
Use numbers up to 100
Engage in simple shopping-related interactions
Grammar:
Conjugation of regular verbs in the present tense
Use of definite and indefinite articles
Understanding gender and number agreement
Possessive adjectives
Demonstrative adjectives (e.g., este, esa)
Introduction to ser and estar with basic uses
NEW THIS SEMESTER!! Optional 1:1 Tutoring Sessions
As a student enrolled in a group class, you have the option to purchase individual 45-minute one-on-one tutoring sessions for $20 each. These sessions take place online and are designed to support you if you know you are going to miss a class or would like extra time to review course materials.
Tutoring sessions must be scheduled within the same time frame as the group class (e.g., September through November for a fall session) and cannot be carried over beyond the course’s end date.
You can purchase as many sessions as you like at the time of registration, and we will reach out after enrollment to coordinate scheduling.
While it is possible to purchase sessions after the course has begun, tutoring spots are limited and availability is not guaranteed once the session is underway. We strongly recommend reserving these tutoring sessions during registration to secure your preferred schedule.
